CODING CAMPS

GAMEMAKER CODING CAMP

AGE: 8-12

Learn game design and computer programming with GameMaker, a real game engine used by professionals in the industry. In this camp, students will be introduced to event based programming with GameMaker, with an option to choose between visual coding and GML, GameMaker's own scripting language. Core programming concepts such as variables, conditionals, loops, functions, and pseudocode are covered in an engaging way. Through game design, students develop engineering mindset, problem solving, and mathematical skills. All new video game projects this summer. Beginners to experienced, all skill levels are welcome. Please bring a laptop. We will have a few laptops available for those who are unable to bring one. Instructor: AllCode Academy Location: Community and Cultural Center (CCC), Diana Murphy Room Weekdays 06/22-06/26 09:00 AM-12:00 PM Fee: $340 CRC Member: $330 LEGO ROBOTICS WITH CODING CAMP AGE: 6-10 Build and program robots in this introductory Robotics camp using LEGO® Spike Essential, Prime® and newest AI systems. In this camp, students will build a variety of fully functioning robots using motors, sensors and lights that will make for a fun experience while developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills. This is a great way to prepare students for more advanced Robotics programs. Students will learn basic programming using a simple and visual block coding system while the older students will have an opportunity to write code using Python programming language. Teams will be formed based on age and skill level. You can bring a tablet, though it is not required. Materials fee $40 is due on the first day of the camp. AI MOBILE APPS CAMP AGE: 8-11 Bring your app ideas to life and work on hands-on, AI-powered projects. In this camp, students will learn how AI (Artificial Intelligence) makes apps smarter, intuitive, and responsive to individual needs. They will learn to use an app coding tool and write code using a block-based language. Computer programming fundamentals such as loops, variables, conditionals, functions, and objects will be covered. Students will work in various phases of app development such as brainstorm ideas, design user interfaces, write code, test, and debug. It is not required to bring a mobile phone to the class. Please bring a laptop. We will have laptops available for those who are unable to bring one. Instructor: AllCode Academy Location: Community and Cultural Center (CCC), Poppy Jasper Room Weekdays 07/13-07/17 09:30 AM-12:30 PM Fee: $285 CRC Member: $275 GAME DEVELOPMENT WITH PYTHON Learn Python programming language and make games with Pixelpad, a visual Python platform. In this camp, students will write code using a popular text-based Python programming language. Pixelpad is a game engine built specially for learners. Using Pixelpad, students will learn how to create their own games with a simplified object-oriented approach. Programming fundamentals such as conditionals, loops, functions, and objects will be covered. Along with coding, students will learn debugging, problem-solving, and brainstorming skills. Absolute beginners to experienced coders, all skill levels are welcome. Please bring a laptop. We will have a few laptops available for those who are unable to bring one. Instructor: AllCode Academy Location: Community and Cultural Center (CCC), Poppy Jasper Room Weekdays 07/13-07/17 01:30 PM-04:30 PM Fee: $350 CRC Member: $340
