 Utilize existing code compliance tools, such as administrative citations, to gain compliance on existing cases (Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust)  Work with the Police Department on enforcement of illicit massage establishments (Enhancing Public Safety)  Create a Code Compliance Officer Safety Policy and obtain Officer Safety Training compliant with SB 296 (Enhancing Public Safety) Financial Comments The City has had only one full-time Code Compliance Officer for the past 20 years. The City’s population and the workload placed on this position has significantly increased in the past 20 years. The Code Compliance Division closes an average of 347 cases a year and currently has over 200 active open cases. Currently, the Code Compliance Division funds 0.40 FTE Code Compliance Officer and 0.5 FTE Municipal Services Assistant (MSA). The MSA has not been able to provide adequate support to Code Compliance Division due to the complexity of cases and the increased workload in the Building Division. The adopted budget includes moving the MSA position completely to the Building Division, moving 10% of the current Code Compliance Officer funding from the Building Division to the General Fund (for a total of 60% General Fund), and adding a new 1.0 FTE Code Compliance Officer funded 100% by the General Fund.
