Division Description Building Division reviews construction plans, issues permits, and provides field inspections for all construction and property development activities to ensure compliance with mandated regulations. In addition to issuing building permits, the Building Division is responsible for fire prevention activities including plan review and inspections, and complaint-based Code Compliance activities, which include investigation, case maintenance, case resolution, annexation inspections, business license reviews, and Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) inspections for zoning and building compliance. FY 2020-21 and 2021-22 Accomplishments  Converted from paper to an electronic submittal, processing and review process  Adapted safety protocols for inspectors and remote work procedures due to the pandemic  Hired a Plan Check Engineer  During FY 20-21 through the beginning of the third quarter of FY 21-22, 2,655 permits have been issued and 13,104 inspections have been performed  The construction valuation for the 2,655 permits issued was $195 million  629 of the 2,655 permits were photovoltaic permits  During FY 20-21 through the beginning of the fourth quarter of FY 21-22, 183 new residential units were permitted  Focused on training in order to increase the City’s International Organization of Standardization (ISO) rating  Coordinated the successful update of TRAKiT permit system including upgrades to Etrakit FY 2022-23 and 2023-24 Activity Goals  Pursue methods to reduce plan check time and increase functionality by obtaining additional outside consultant support (Fiscal Sustainability)  Continue to focus on staff training efforts to ensure future ISO rating increases (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture)  Continue to improve functionality of TRAKiT for permit issuance, plan review and permitting access, and inspection tracking (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture)  Continue to refine the website and applications for ease of use by the public (Supporting our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community; Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust)  Modify the policies and procedures manual for code compliance post administrative citation process approval (Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust)  Complete the 3-year code cycle update and adopt the 2022 Building Codes (Enhance Public Safety)
