2024 Sewer System Master Plan

Project Description This project is intended to implement needed repairs and improvements for various pipeline and manhole rehabilitations and improvements throughout the City. The City has completed a comprehensive assessment of all its wastewater pipelines and has prioritized the needs for improvements to its pipelines and manholes. Repair and rehabilitation of pipelines and manholes are intended to support multiple benefits for the City’s wastewater system, including: • Maintaining the integrity of the pipelines to prevent failures that result in sanitary sewer overflows. • Prevent infiltration into the City’s wastewater system from stormwater that can overwhelm the system and cause sanitary sewer overflows. • Protect the environment by ensuring wastewater does not leave the City’s system through damaged pipes or manholes. This project occurs annually with pipelines identified on an ongoing basis for repair and replacement. Project Justification The City proactively works to maintain the general condition of the existing sewer system and works to identify areas out of compliance with existing design and construction standards, as well as identifying areas requiring repair. This project is intended to mitigate areas of concern within the sewer system. Sewer pipelines subject to deteriorated conditions or major structural defects must be replaced to ensure an adequate level of service and public safety. These replacements and repairs are intended to mitigate existing pipeline issues before complete pipeline failure occurs.
