2024 Sewer System Master Plan
Project Description All of Morgan Hill's wastewater is delivered to the wastewater treatment plant in Gilroy via a single trunk sewer line that extends south from the City. The construction of a new parallel sewer trunk line is intended to facilitate the City's planned growth and to mitigate capacity constrictions in the existing trunk line. The project will span the distance between Highland Avenue and Renz Lane in Gilroy. The design is scheduled for completion in 2024. Commencement of construction could begin as early as 2025. Project Justification The City's Sewer System Master Plan identified areas of growth consistent with the General Plan and includes the orderly construction of sewer improvements intended to service that growth. The rate of growth drives the need for expanded capacity in the sewer trunk line and the capacity of the SCRWA treatment plant. Cost for expanding capacity of the trunk line will be met by the collection of sewer impact fees and existing rates.
