COUNCIL GOALS Enhancing public safety 

Coordinate the review of new land use development projects with both the Fire Department and Police Department to minimize fire/safety hazards in the physical environment. Use the Planning Permit process to enforce the Fire Code as well as Community Policing through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles  Coordinate the review of new land use development with outside agencies responsible for overseeing flood safety and hazard avoidance  Administer the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to insure that new development meets environmental health standards related to noise, air quality, soil contamination, etc Protecting the environment  Administer the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to insure that new development will have a minimal impact upon the environment through project design measures  Review projects for consistency with Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan conditions and collect Habitat Plan implement fees and transfer fee revenues to the Habitat Agency  Implement the City's General Plan to achieve long-term goals for a sustainable community
