Division Description As its name implies, the Police Department Support Services Division encompasses a variety of functions that support the overall operations of the Department as well as providing customer service at the front counter of the police facility. The functions included in this division are Records; Property/Evidence Management; and Dispatch Services. Dispatch Services has a separate program budget. Police Records Specialists accomplish accurate and timely report and information processing for local, county, and state systems as required. The Evidence Technician oversees the storage and processing of property and evidence pursuant to rigorous state requirements. Division personnel lend assistance to other divisions when supplementary personnel are required, such as animal licensing, Live Scan fingerprinting and the annual update of information collected from registrants who are required to report to the police facility. FY 2018-19 and 2019-20 Accomplishments  Expanded scanning and digitally archiving paper police records (Council Ongoing Priorities: Protecting the Environment)  Participated in sharps disposal drop off program (Council Ongoing Priorities: Protecting the Environment)  Completed interface with Crossroads Electronic citation and collision reporting system with Records Management System (Council Ongoing Priorities: Protecting the Environment, 2019 Council Strategic Priorities: Regional Initiatives) FY 2020-21 and 2021-22 Activity Goals  Participate in Criminal Justice Information Control (CJIC) decommission and replacement solution (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, 2019 Council Strategic Priorities: Regional Initiatives)  Recruit and hire a Police Records Specialist (vacant position) (City Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture)  Explore opportunities to expand electronic transmission of records to DMV, Parking Citation Management and Santa Clara County Court System.
