Project Description The City seeks to develop a strategic plan and related implementation roadmap to guide network infrastructure and connectivity. The strategic plan will focus on the potential of constructing a City fiber network between all City facilities. During the development of the plan, review will also look at the feasibility of extending the City’s proposed network to serve high priority businesses areas within the City and the greater City as a whole. Phase one of this project occurs in FY2018/19 and includes the development of this plan. Phase two would begin in FY 2019/20, with the initial connections in the fiber network serving the Centennial Recreation Center, Corporation Yard, and Community Park. Project Justification Increasing costs for internet service per site are driving up operating costs. Developing a City owned network may generate significant cost savings. Extending the study to explore uses of the network outside of the City’s needs supports the City’s Economic Blueprint.
