• Negotiate a long-term telecommunication services agreement resulting in increased public benefit. On the economic development front, facilitate and implement an industrial plan preservation policy, including a retail concentration strategy (Economic Development) • Advocate with the regional partners for the clearly identified traffic and transportation issues, including the High-Speed Rail, Hale Avenue extension, expansion of Highway 101, and funding for priority projects in the South Santa Clara County (Transportation) • Continue to further Council’s ongoing priorities to sustain a safe, inclusive, socially responsible, environmentally conscious, and an economically sound community • Continue to instill culture of excellence and continuous improvement in the organization by encouraging staff to aspire to be the best and recognize teammates that demonstrate the core values (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture) • Successfully negotiate all three Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with bargaining units by December 2021 guided by Council’s adopted compensation guidelines (Fiscal Sustainability) • Represent the City’s interests by regularly meeting with County of Santa Clara, MHUSD, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency (VTA), Chamber of Commerce, Emergency Operational Area Council, Gilroy, and South County Regional Wastewater Authority (SCRWA), and League of CA Cities (Advancing Regional Initiatives; Transportation) Financial Comments The cost of the City’s Economic Development Division was previously accounted for in the City Manager’s Department. Effective FY 2018 -19, this function is accounted for as its own Division within Development Services (General Fund). There was no net effect on Citywide FTEs as a result of this change.
