Street Maintenance: Lighting, 010.6100 Vegetation Control, Storm Drain, and Pavement Repair Division Description Under this budget activity, the Community Services Maintenance Team maintains the City’s roadway system in good repair to provide safe and serviceable roadways and related facilities. In addition to City roadways, other related facilities include sidewalks, curb and gutter, the City storm drain system, unimproved City rights-of-way (ROW), streetlights, traffic signals, street signage, street trees, and various other infrastructure. The Team utilizes both in-house services and a variety of maintenance contracts to provide an economical quality service for the City. In addition to maintaining the infrastructure outlined, the team also provides roadside weed abatement for fire prevention and debris removal. The Division is responsible for the annual cleaning and clearing of the City’s storm drain system and leads winter storm responses. The Division regularly supports the Police Department with traffic control, accident cleanup, and graffiti removal. Ongoing support from the Division is provided to the City’s Code Compliance Division for cleanup of illegal debris on City-owned properties and ROW. The Division implements minor improvements to City streets and right-of-way at the direction of the City Engineer. • Completed annual sidewalk repair project to support public safety and infrastructure maintenance. • Completed street marking program including striping in the Jackson Oaks area and East Dunne including railroad markings, stop bars and turn arrows. • Completed annual inspections on the storm system and performed maintenance for all noted deficient areas including catch basins, storm channels and storm infrastructure maintenance. • Responded successfully to significant storm events in the Winter in early 2019. • Prepared and implemented placement of stop signs at all traffic signal locations where power was lost during the Public Safety Power Shutoffs in 2019. • Completed weed abatement activities on City-owned properties and ROWs supporting public safety. • Updated median reflectors and painting on high-use arterial streets.
