CITY OF MORGAN HILL - CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

Unfunded, Partially Funded and Delayed Projects Project Ball Field Development Needed Funding

$18,000,000 Park Impact Fund 301 or Quimby Fund 375

Description The City has purchased 23 acres of property south of Tennant Avenue for a future Baseball/Softball site. This site or another potential site is envisioned for a baseball/softball complex. The project has a lower priority than other items within the Bikeways, Trails, Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The high cost associated with this project would require many years of limited or no park projects to develop adequate funding for the site. The site could be constructed in phases, once other priority projects are completed, and funding can be dedicated. Funding is not anticipated to be dedicated to this purpose within the current six-year planning period, but will start accumulating funds for this purpose in the latter years of the project. Currently, the City is looking into the possibility of public private partnerships.

Project

New Traffic, Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Projects

Needed Funding

Unknown

Description With the elimination of the City’s Residential Development Control System by the State of California, the City has no funding outside the General Fund to be dedicated towards these projects. Given the current fiscal strain on the General Fund, City staff will continue to look for grant funding for these types of projects.

Description The Corporation Yard is currently at capacity in relation to space for City Services and Morgan Hill Unified Transportation Services. A space study is underway to determine exact needs for the potential renovation/expansion. However, continued growth will require expansion through innovative use of additional space or identifying functions to move to alternate locations. MHUSD would prefer to bring other school support services to the Corporation Yard, but there is not currently space available. Future discussion between MHUSD and the City is needed to clarify project goals.
