Police Administration (continued) Administration provides planning and coordination; budget management; coordination of internal affairs matters; department-wide training; special events planning and management; and other administrative needs to the Department. FY 2016-17 and 2017-18 Accomplishments • Enhanced community engagement by implementing Coffee with a Cop • Expanded outreach with monolingual Spanish speaking residents by speaking at Spanish Mass on immigration concerns and hosting Coffee with a Cop afterwards • Implemented a paperless criminal complaint filing system with the District Attorney’s Office • Used law enforcement grant funds to implement a Safe-Parking Program for homeless women and children to better connect families with services • Implemented a new software solution for better tracking of pursuits, use of force, and administrative investigations • Reinstated the Neighborhood Resource Unit to address crime and quality of life issues • Received Force Options Simulator purchased by the Community Law Enforcement Foundation for officer training and community outreach • Achieved a 74% Clearance Rate for Part 1 Violent Crimes (Pacific Region is 47.5%) and a 16% Clearance Rate for Part 1 Property Crimes (Pacific Region is 13.6%) FY 2018-19 and 2019-20 Activity Goals • Increase the profile of the City and Police Department; Police Chief will serve as the President of the California Police Chiefs Association (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture, Regional Initiatives) • Finalize and begin implementation of the Police Department of Choice concept (Enhancing Public Safety, Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Community Engagement and Messaging) • Identify and implement a dynamic analytics dashboard for the tracking of crime trends and locations, response times, and other key data points to enhance service delivery (Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Enhancing Public Safety) • Provide suicide prevention training to all Officers and Public Safety Dispatchers (Enhancing Public Safety, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Supporting our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community)
