Police Special Operations (continued)

• Conduct Run, Hide, Defend trainings at MHUSD schools and private schools (Supporting Our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community) • Assist School District with Restorative Justice practices (Supporting Our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community) • Use social media to inform and educate the community of police activity and public safety announcements (Community Engagement and Messaging) • Continue to actively participate in South County Youth Task Force (Supporting Our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community) • Conduct activities below as part of Vision Zero Morgan Hill initiatives (Enhancing Public Safety): • Coordinate with the MHUSD and American Medical Response (AMR) to offer driving under the influence programs at local high schools (e.g. Every 15 Minutes, Sober Graduation, Zero Tolerance) • Partner with MHUSD to provide student/driver education regarding common law violations and misconceptions • Partner with nightlife businesses and transportation networks to deter impaired driving by offering special services and promotions (e.g. Know Your Limits Campaign, Designated Driver Program, Uber, Lyft, and local taxi services) • Conduct annual driver safety training courses for City employees • Provide suicide prevention training to all Special Operations Officers (Enhancing Public Safety, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Supporting our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community) Financial Comments In 2017, the contribution from RATTF towards the embedded officer’s compensation increased from 42% to 50% for a total of $116,000 in FY 2018-19. Starting in FY 2018-19, the contribution from SCCSET of $50,000 towards the embedded officer’s compensation will end. The city will no longer receive funding toward participation in this task force.
