• Completed the Economic Blueprint; which identifies four key industries, 13 key strategies, and 35 specific action items designed to guide land use, policy development, and budget decisions. • Successfully launched OpenCounter, an online based portal that allows business entrepreneurs to understand zoning code requirements, permits and fees. This new online permitting portal assisted over 400 conceptual projects and saved 42 hours of counter staff time within its inaugural 2 months. • Conformed Draft Zoning Code to ensure alignment with the Economic Blueprint’s goals and objectives. This effort is the most significant accomplishment of the Economic Blueprint as the Zoning Code influences approximately 45% of the action items outlined in the Economic Blueprint. 14 uses were streamlined in the permitting process, providing clear direction to businesses, brokers, and investors interested in Morgan Hill. • Initiated a Development Impact “Fee” Freeze program and a Use Tax Incentive Program. Both programs provide incentives for business to invest in equipment and infrastructure in the City of Morgan Hill. • Assisted numerous businesses through the entitlement and site search process, including entitlements for Healthworks Bakery—a 25,000-manufacturing facility, the Chrysler Dealership, 76 Gas Station, Kettle Cuisine, Ulta Beauty, the relocation of Golden State Assembly, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Coffee Guys, Orange Theory Fitness, Grapevine Winery, and Bike Therapy. The team continues to engage and to provide assistance to a number of projects at various stages of permitting and construction, including the Granada Hotel, the Edes Building Gallery, Sunsweet, City Ventures, and Barley Place mixed use projects. • Led the first annual regional Economic Development Symposium under the Silicon Valley Economic Development Alliance (SVEDA) umbrella in partnership with ICSC, SPUR and ULI. This year, Morgan Hill’s Economic Development Coordinator was appointed chair-elect for SVEDA’s 2019/20 term. • Submitted Bid for Amazon HQ2 Proposal, which included drafting an extensive response to the Request for Information (RFI). Several promotional videos were developed and are available on the City’s website: Morgan Hill Workstyle, Morgan Hill Lifestyle and Morgan Hill, You Gotta Love it! • Created marketing campaign to promote the Economic Blueprint and articulate the “value proposition” which exists for the identified four key industries. Secured a contract with the Silicon Valley Business Journal for advertorial opportunities, and leveraged $15,000 of private sector funding to complement the campaign. In parallel, Economic Development created a new website to support the marketing and branding goals identified in the City’s Economic Blueprint. • Evaluated freeway alignments for the High Speed Rail project, coordinated a response for High Speed Rail’s 15% design documents and created a South County working group comprised of representatives from San Jose, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and County of Santa Clara to coordinate efforts. • Collaborated with the San Jose Sports Authority to co-host the Amgen Tour of California 2018 Time Trial Race. Secured Start, Finish and Lifestyle Festival for Downtown Morgan Hill and
