FY 2022-23 and 2023-24 Activity Goals • Establish new solid waste management franchise agreement for Gilroy and Morgan Hill (Fiscal Sustainability; Protecting the Environment) • Continue to orchestrate the initial implementation of the new and significant organic waste management regulations adopted by the State under SB 1383 (Protecting the Environment) • Monitor the marketing of collected recyclables and adjust the cities’ recycling programs in order to maximize waste diversion and avoid the disposal of recyclables (Protecting the Environment) • Implement a local Food Waste Prevention Program outreach program (Protecting the Environment) • Begin implementation of the City’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) at a level defined by the resources available (Protecting the Environment) • Prepare and present an ordinance to City Council by December 2022 preventing the installation of new gas stations that are not already in the permit pipeline (Protecting the Environment)

Financial Comments In addition to the General Fund, other revenue sources for this program include waste tipping fees of $70,000, and State grant of $12,000.
