• Received direction from Council to complete a design plan for an Improved Lane Reduction Program and associated Place Branding effort for the Downtown • Coordinated “Sidewalk Saturdays,” an outdoor popup retail event for retailers that do not have a storefront to join an outdoor retail market opportunity in Downtown • Implemented and created a temporary curbside pick-up for Downtown restaurants • Partnered with the Silicon Valley Business Journal to host a panel on the “Future of Morgan Hill” and d iscussed the major development projects in the pipeline as well as Morgan Hill's growing tourism, business, and entertainment sectors • Partnered with the Morgan Hill Downtown Association, Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce, and Visit Morgan Hill to present a free outdoor movie series on Wednesday nights at the Downtown Amphitheater and further support our local business community • Contracted with a professional videographer to co-direct and co-produce a Morgan Hill Tourism video with Visit Morgan Hill highlighting all the amenities Morgan Hill has to offer • Development Services teammates participated in a two-day UrbanPlan Workshop taught by Urban Land Institute (ULI) that provided hands-on training to better understand the trade-offs and risk at play in the entitlement and negotiations process associated with land use • Conducted business walk and survey in Downtown Morgan Hill to help assess Downtown parking needs for the Downtown Traffic Calming and Monterey Road Lane Reduction and Place Branding/Beautification Project • Supported the Downtown Traffic Calming and Monterey Road Lane Reduction and Place Branding/Beautification Project four (4) working group meetings and four (4) community outreach meetings • Completed recruitment for Economic Development Director, Coordinator, and Fellow positions • Conducted 14 business retention visits with key/major employers and completed corresponding follow-up action items • Launched a Choose Morgan Hill Economic Development monthly eNewsletter • Presented Economic Development updates to Planning Commission, City Council, Chamber of Commerce, and South County Realtors Association • Extended Al Fresco outdoor dining program through December 2022 • Re-activated social media accounts and blog posting on Choose Morgan Hill website • Created a Business Resource Toolkit with information about: Manufacturing and R&D Partial Tax Credit, California Competes Tax Credit & Grant, California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority (CAEATFA), and Grow MH Fund • Drafted Industrial Preservation & Optimization Policy and updates to the Zoning Code • Updated City Council on shopping center district sales and trends from 2019-2021 and issued press release
