Recommended FY 2022-2024 Operating Budget and CIP
General Liability (continued)
• City operations will continue to emphasize safety issues and best business practices to minimize situations that cause insurance claims (Maintaining Fiscal Responsibility) • Revise/update Emergency Action Plan (SOP) (Preserving and Cultivating PublicTrust) • The City will continue to assess sewer lines and conduct repairs through in-house staff and via capital improvement projects to reduce the risk of sewer overflows (Maintaining and Enhancing Infrastructure) • The City will increase the frequency of tree maintenance in parks to support improved safety (Enhancing Public Safety) Financial Comments The City manages its risk through a shared pool of liability coverage with other similar legal entities through the PLAN JPA. This enhances efficiency as PLAN JPA is very familiar with the types of issues that confront local governments and the appropriate response to these situations. The fiscal policy of the City is to maintain a minimum reserve level for general liability equal to four times the City's self-insured retention amount for general liability claims, of which the minimum reserve level equals $400,000.
