Division Description The Field Operations Division is committed to using best practices in crime prevention and intervention and the enforcement of laws and regulations. We are proud of our ability to engage our community and create lasting partnerships that enable Morgan Hill to be a safe city for all. Field Operations personnel work with community members to identify and resolve problems by:

 Responding to emergency calls  Traffic enforcement

 Conducting preliminary investigations  Conducting follow-up for most incidents  Community-oriented policing projects  Directed patrol  Targeted pro-active enforcement  Bicycle patrol  Non-emergency calls for service

The Field Operations Division consists of thirty sworn patrol officers: one Captain, four Patrol Sergeants, four Patrol Corporals, one Traffic Corporal, two Traffic officers, to include one K-9 Officer and eighteen officers. The civilian component of the division consists of three Multi Service Officers (MSO) and an Animal Services Officer (ASO). MSOs are responsible for taking police reports, providing vehicle abatement, jail management and other duties as assigned. The ASO is responsible for the enforcement of animal control provisions mandated by state law and local ordinance, and for administering animal licensing for the City of Morgan Hill. In addition to patrol duties, Police Officers have collateral duties such as field training officers (FTO), bicycle officers, motorcycle officers, special weapons and tactics team (SWAT), hostage negotiations (HNT), peer support, K-9 officer, Crime Scene Investigator (CSI), Volunteers in Policing (VIP) Coordinator, Community Police Academy Instructors, special event assignments, and Certified Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) instructors. FY 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 Accomplishments  Affirmed succession planning and organizational diversity efforts by filling positions with internal candidates and increased representation in one under-represented area by 100%  Interrupted Crime Trends by deploying resources to hot spots identified through an analysis of crime data
