FY 2022-23 and 2023-24 Activity Goals Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Economic Development team’s work program was focused on creating fiscal sustainability by growing existing companies, attracting new industry, growing professional jobs; and advancing goals for healthcare, retail, advanced manufacturing, innovation, and tourism in furtherance of the City's 2017 Economic Blueprint as follows: Economic Development will focus on completing the action items listed in the City’s 2017 Economic Blueprint. The City’s ED efforts will continue to focus on creating fiscal sustainability by growing existing companies, attracting new industry, and growing professional jobs; advancing goals for Healthcare, Retail and Tourism and continue to provide assistance supporting the business community and strategies, projects and policies that enhance the community’s quality of life. Below some of the key efforts for the upcoming fiscal years:  Business Retention & Expansion: Continue the implementation of a robust business retention program, with immediate outreach to the top 50 employers and top 50 sales tax generators with a focus to ascertain the business’ immediate two-year plans and developing a “lease term-expiration” schedule to support future retention efforts  Property Business Improvement District (PBID) : Work with the Downtown businesses to create a Property Business Improvement District to fund enhanced public safety, maintenance, marketing, and property improvements in the Downtown District  Healthcare : Support the recruitment of new medical providers and the expansion of the Healthcare Market. Work with property owners to market and promote the City as a viable location for enhanced medical services and hospital  Auto Dealers: Proactively pursue the recruitment of new auto dealers and the expansion of existing auto dealer businesses using available incentive programs  Recreational Vehicles: Work with existing recreational vehicle dealers to support their retention and expansion  Hotels: Pursue new hotel development opportunities on approved/identified hotel sites. Work with developer to complete the Granada Hotel in Downtown. Engage with an outside consultant to complete a hotel market analysis and work with City staff to develop a Hotel Policy and Strategy to assist in the recruitment of hotel brands and projects, while identifying opportunities to convert obsolete hotel room stock to affordable housing  Professional Office Development: Develop strategies and incentives to increase new professional office development and identify new users
