FY 2018-19 and 2019-20 Accomplishments Implemented an all-inclusive response to dynamic crime trends based on analytical data intelligence, with the overall goal of interrupting crime trends and patterns (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety) Developed and implemented an innovate English and Spanish mobile phone applications. This application improves the ability of the Department to engage with members of our community by easily allowing access to information and provides the ability to report crimes directly from the mobile application. (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Enhancing Diversity and Inclusiveness) Partnered with Santa Clara County Probation to establish a Community Based Probation Unit at the Morgan Hill Police Department. This partnership brings outside resources to the City at no-cost. (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Maintain Fiscal Responsibility) Established initial School Threat Assessment Protocol to address targeted school violence (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety) Obtained Tobacco Grant which funded and implemented a 2 nd School Resource Officer to focus on tobacco and vaping education, awareness and enforcement (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Supporting our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community) Received a grant award from Santa Clara County as a sub-recipient of a second Law Enforcement Tobacco Grant Program to conduct decoy operations to deter sales of tobacco products to youth and young adults under the age of 21. (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Supporting our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community) Partnered with housing and code enforcement to address homeless and encampment issues (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, 2019-2020 Strategic Priorities Homelessness) Partnered with South County Youth Task Force (SCYTF) to host a “Spanish Only” Parent Project at Park Place Apartments (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Enhancing Diversity and Inclusiveness) Partnered with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the Gilroy Police Department to conduct a voluntary gun buyback which collected 493 firearms. (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety) Presented two Parent Project Classes per year, one of which was Spanish only. (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Supporting our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community, Enhancing Diversity and Inclusiveness) Developed a portal through Publicam to provide MHPD with access to the MHUSD video camera footage in times of emergencies.
