• Welcomed appointment of new Police Chief Shane Palgsrove
• Developed and implemented an innovative English and Spanish mobile phone application. This application improves the ability of the department to engage with members of our com- munity by easily allowing access to information and provides the ability to report crimes direct- ly from the mobile application. (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Enhanc- ing Diversity and Inclusiveness) • Launched community engagement platform, SPIDR Tech, that automatically sends one-to-one texts and emails in English and Spanish to crime victims, reporting parties and other members of the community (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhancing Public Safety, Advancing Regional Initiatives) • Enhanced communication by implementing Text to 911 (Council Ongoing Priorities: Enhanc- ing Public Safety) • Developed department wide safety protocols and procedures for response to calls for service, department holding cells, and prisoner transport due to COVID-19 Shelter in Place Orders o Coordinate with the Morgan Hill Unified School District (MHUSD) and American Medical Response (AMR) to offer driving under the influence programs at local high schools (e.g. Every 15 Minutes, Sober Graduation, Zero Tolerance) o Partner with MHUSD to provide student/driver education regarding common law vio- lations and misconceptions o Partner with nightlife businesses and transportation networks to deter impaired driving by offering special services and promotions (e.g. Know Your Limits Campaign, Desig- nated Driver Program, Uber, Lyft and local taxi services) • Replace Mobizent eCite-electronic citations and traffic collision reporting platform to Cross- roads to improve reliability, efficiencies and environmental footprint and ensure alignment of traffic enforcement with high collision areas.
