Financial Comments During the FY 2018-20 budget process, the Field Operations Division received approval for five Decision Packages: 1) Recruitment and hiring of 1FTE officer to allow for a three-person traffic team to enhance traffic safety and work toward our commitment to Vision Zero; 2) $30,000 for officer training to offset the significant reduction in training reimbursement funds from the California Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (POST); 3) $21,400 for the purchase of an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) as a replacement for existing non- functioning system; and 4) $19,000 to augment the current services budget appropriation for the sheltering of cats the County Animal Shelter; 5) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training for all Field Operations Division Police Officers in the amount of $28,000. Each officer will participate in this 15-hour training that teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. An additional $6,400 was approved as part of the same Decision Package for Public Safety Dispatcher training for a total of $34,400.
