FY 2018-19 and 2019-20 Activity Goals • Purchase Public Safety Command Vehicle with grant funding (Enhancing Public Safety, Regional Initiatives) • Hire Police Officers to fill vacancies (Enhancing Public Safety) • Expand eCite-electronic citations platform to improve efficiencies and environmental footprint (Protecting the Environment) • Launch “Department of Choice” initiative placing an emphasis on teammate satisfaction and external customer focus (Enhancing Public Safety, Community Engagement and Messaging) • Interrupt Crime Trends by deploying resources to hotspots identified through an analysis of crime data (Enhancing Public Safety) • Add a third traffic officer to reduce traffic collisions (Enhancing Public Safety) • Partner with Mental Health Staff to address chronic clients in need of resources (Enhancing Public Safety, Supporting Our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community) • Partner with faith-based organizations to apply best practices for Homeless population (Enhancing Public Safety, Supporting Our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community) • Support Chief in his role as president of the California Police Chiefs Association (Regional Initiatives) • Recruit and hire 1FTE Police Officer. The addition of this officer will allow for a three-person traffic team to provide better coverage during commute times and throughout the City to enhance commitment to Vision Zero/Approved Decision Package (Enhancing Public Safety) • Purchase Automated License Plate Reader/Approved Decision Package to replace existing system to identify stolen vehicles within our community (Enhancing Public Safety) • Provide training for all legislatively mandated and collateral trainings for all officers/Approved Decision Package (Enhancing Public Safety) • Provide sheltering of cats at the local County Animal Shelter to provide spay/neuter and adoption services in an effort to safely and humanely decrease the feral cat population/ Approved Decision Package (Protecting the Environment, Maintaining Fiscal Responsibility) • Provide suicide prevention training to all Field Operations Division Officers/Approved Decision Package (Enhancing Public Safety, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Supporting our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community)
