• Upgrade GIS software to current industry standard (Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Maintaining Fiscal Responsibility) • Keep GIS aligned with City business needs and budget (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture, Maintaining Fiscal Responsibility) • Produce most accurate addressing information possible for emergency responders (Enhancing Public Safety, Supporting our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust) • Improve GIS capabilities at EOC Center (Enhancing Public Safety, Protecting the Environment, Supporting our Youth, Seniors, and Entire Community, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust) • Integrate GIS with Utilities asset management system (Sedaru) (Infrastructure) • Work with GIS Operations Team and key teammates to develop plan for updating utility GIS data (Enhancing Public Safety, Infrastructure, Protecting the Environment) • Integrate GIS throughout City departments (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture, Supporting our Community, Maintaining Fiscal Responsibility, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust) • Continue to provide customized GIS maps and data as needed to City teammates and project contractors to meet regulatory and reporting requirements (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture, Community Engagement and Messaging, Supporting our Community, Economic Development and Telecommunications, Infrastructure, Protecting the Environment, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust) • Identify and protect sensitive GIS data (Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Enhancing Public Safety) • Set standards for GIS maps and data that are shared outside the City (Community Engagement and Messaging, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust) • Recommend best practices for users working with GIS maps and data (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust) • Capture and share useful existing spatial data for City (Fostering a Positive Organizational Culture) • Make appropriate data available to the public (Community Engagement and Messaging, Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust, Enhancing Public Safety) • Continue to enhance resources available to the City GIS through collaboration with external partners (Regional Initiatives, Financial Stewardship) Financial Comments Because GIS services are provided citywide, the GIS Division has been established as a new internal service fund. As an internal service fund, GIS will accumulate costs related to providing GIS services, most of which have previously been captured in other department budgets. GIS Division costs will then be allocated to various City departments based on their estimated usage of GIS resources.
