1.0 Purpose:

The purpose of this policy is to establish standards and guidelines for all City employees regarding attire and appearance at work. This policy aims to empower the City of Morgan Hill employees to perform their jobs safely and effectively while maintaining a professional image and maximizing comfort. It is even more critical that employees maintain a neat and professional appearance. A relaxed dress policy offers flexibility and comfort, but adhering to neatness and professionalism ensures the City’s image remains one of competence and respect. This means wearing clean, well- fitted clothing that reflects the City’s commitment to excellence, ensuring that a casual dress code does not compromise the professionalism and trust we aim to convey to the community. 2.1 "Business Professional" means clothing that is well-fitted and is traditionally more conservative and includes dresses, slacks, skirts, suits, and ties. Business Professional tops include neat button-down shirts or blouses with a blazer. Business Professional shoes include heels, loafers, dress sneakers, or flats. 2.2 "Business Casual" means relaxed, comfortable, and appropriate clothing to conduct business with the public. 2.3 “ City-Wear" means clothing suitable for the workplace with the City logo and/or the words "City of Morgan Hill." 2.4 "Employee" broadly means any employee receiving a paycheck from the City, contract employees, temporary employees, and volunteers utilized by the City. 2.0 Definitions:
