Operational and Programmatic Activities: Continue to collaborate with the Morgan Hill Unified School District to ensure the School Resource Officer MOU for the 2022-23 school year follows best practices (Supporting Our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community) Expand Police Department’s Chaplaincy Program to include additional response types, resources, and provide services to other departments (Supporting Our Youth, Seniors and Entire Community) Our Traffic Officers began using Crossroads Collision software for collision reporting. The Department is also using Crossroads software for electronic citations. In FY 2022-23, the Department will complete the process for integration with our Report Management System (Preserving and Cultivating Public Trust) Enhance Listos Program, emergency preparedness program designed for the Spanish speaking community; recruit Listos Program Instructor, organize and deliver community training (in Spanish) (Enhancing Public Safety; Enhancing Diversity and Inclusiveness) Financial Comments In FY 2022-23, the Police Department will purchase the following equipment in order to enhance public safety, foster innovation, and leverage resources to enhance both crime prevention and intervention: Utilize bundle pricing to purchase TASERs, body worn cameras, car cameras with unlimited cloud storage, and replacement equipment for $160,000 per year Add 25 Flock license plate reader cameras in strategic locations to cover all entry/exit points to the City to identify stolen vehicles; cameras will total 50 throughout the City for an annual cost of $120,000 for the lease and maintenance of cameras. Since the program launch in August 2021, the Department located 121 vehicles stolen both within Morgan Hill and neighboring jurisdictions, and have made over 119 arrests. Purchase a new police vehicle with safety/communications equipment using funds from the Public Safety Facilities Impact Fund to support the new 1.0 FTE Multi-Service Officer; for a total of $63,000 The Police Department will utilize grant funds to leverage resources for the following activities: Purchase a Long-Range Acoustical Device (LRAD) - $17,500 Device will assist with early warning and evacuation events Department of Justice Tobacco Grant - $431,728 Provides salary and benefits for 1.0 FTE Community Tobacco Officer for 2 years, overtime hours for officers for tobacco enforcement activities at festivals and events Emergency Management Performance Grant - $19,600
