Police Special Operations (continued)

FY 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 Accomplishments  Established School Threat Assessment Protocol  Continued our partnership with City Housing Department to support our unhoused community and address illegal encampments  Partnered with Morgan Hill Unified School District to increase school safety through video camera access in times of emergency  Increased our social media platforms allowing MHPD to increase positive police contacts and inform and educate the community of police activity and public safety announcements  Developed safety protocols and procedures aligned with the County's Shelter in Place Order to facilitate social distancing and minimize the spread of COVID-19  Implemented the Youth Diversion Program. This program is designed to provide eligible youth offenders with an alternative to entering the justice system while still holding them accountable. The Department's Youth Diversion Specialist works with the South County Deputy District Attorney to identify youth to refer to the program.  Implemented the Mobile Crisis Response Team. This team is in partnership with the County Behavioral Health Services, assigning one detective and a licensed mental health clinician to work one day a week to respond to, screen, and assess individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.  A Police Sergeant was assigned to the Santa Clara County Regional Enforcement Allied Computer Task Force, a task force that provides 100% of the Sergeant's salary and overtime  The Morgan Hill Unified School District renewed the School Resource Officer Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the 2021-2022 school year. The Department and MHUSD will continue collaboratively to ensure the MOU follows best practices. FY 2022-23 and 2023-24 Activity Goals  Recruit and hire a new 1.0 FTE Community Services Officer position to serve as the juvenile justice specialist in partnership with the District Attorney’s Office, conduct community outreach and engagement, and support the day-to-day investigative functions of the division (Enhancing Public Safety; Supporting Our Youth)  Present at least two Parent Project Classes per year in English and Spanish in partnership with the Office of the District Attorney and/or Morgan Hill Unified School District (MHUSD) to offset the costs associated with conducting this training (Enhancing Public Safety; Community Engagement & Messaging; Supporting Our Youth; Enhancing Diversity and Inclusiveness)  Conduct Active Shooter training based on revised countywide protocol to the community (Enhancing Public Safety)  Respond to graffiti abatement within 48 hours of notification (Protecting the Environment)
