4.6 Department-Specific Guidelines: Some departments may have specific dress code requirements for safety, operational, functional or other reasons. Employees in these departments should adhere to those guidelines. 4.7 Weather Considerations: While comfort is encouraged, ensure that weather appropriate attire remains within our dress code expectations. Particularly in warm weather, please follow these guidelines: a. The length of dresses/skirts should be professional, and at least one inch past your fingertips when your hands are down at your sides. b. Low-cut, midriff-baring shirts, backless, open sides, and belly shirts are unacceptable. c. Shirts without sleeves are acceptable if the shoulder strap is at least one inch in width unless covered with outerwear. 4.8 Accessories: Keep accessories tasteful. Avoid overly distracting or inappropriate jewelry. Consider your routine tasks and how your accessories may pose a risk of injury. 4.9 Unforeseen Events: If you occasionally experience unexpected meetings or presentations, we strongly recommend keeping Business Professional attire readily available in your workspace. 4.10 Special Events: If you are wearing a City-branded shirt, please remember that members of the public will assume you are working. Keep in mind you are representing the City when wearing branded clothing. City-branded clothing should be fitted in accordance with the guidelines outlined in this policy. 4.11 After Work Hours: City-branded attire shall not be worn when not working and in public, unless the items are branded items available to the public in general (such as recreation apparel). 4.12 Personal Hygiene: Good personal hygiene is expected. Hair should be neat, clean, and well-groomed. Beards, mustaches, and sideburns must be kept tidy and professional, not creating a safety hazard during work tasks. Ensure your clothing, hair, body odor, and appearance are clean and presentable. 4.13 Accommodation: Employees with specific needs related to religious observances or requiring an accommodation should consult the Human Resources Department. 4.14 Policy Updates: The City reserves the right to revise or revoke this policy at any time, potentially returning to a traditional Business Professional or other attire standard. 4.15 Employees are expected to use good judgment in selecting appropriate work attire every day. If an employee is unsure if their attire is appropriate for their duties, they should do one or all of the following:
